What It's Really Like to Get Lip Injections for the First Time

I'll be the first to admit that over time I've become a little insecure about my lips . It wasn't that I ever thought my natural lips made me "ugly" or "less attractive." On the contrary, I sort of liked them. They've been a crucial part of my face my entire life.
As someone who is very body positive, I've always been supportive of anyone who has wanted to get any procedure done, regardless of their reasons. There's no judgement on my end — how can there be if I've been under the knife myself.
Whether you are getting Botox, Liposuction, Slimming Treatments, or something as simple as learning how to contour, or simply going from blonde to brunette, I'm all for it. ( Well i mean, of course i am, just look at my pictures ;) )
Part of being body positive is respecting not only my body, but the decisions and bodies of everyone around me.
I've always been one of those women who has to at least try something once to see if it's for me. So since I have been toying with the idea of getting lip fillers for the past few years, i decided that trying lip fillers for the first time was just like trying out any other beauty routine. It served the same purpose, after all: To help enhance one's physical appearance.
Dr.Haage who is the doctor here at SkinSational Medical Aesthetics, decided that for the look I wanted the Juvederm Volbella would be the product for me.
Juvéderm® VOLBELLA® with Lidocaine was developed with VYCROSS™ technology to deliver a natural look and feel, with results proven to last up to a year. Because it also includes a local anaesthetic, you should find it makes the treatment process much more comfortable.
I had no idea what to expect, did it hurt? How long would the procedure take? Would I bruise?
Here's a few things that were mentioned, and i hope they can help you too!
* You may be advised to stop wearing makeup for up to 12 hours.
*You may also be told to avoid the sun, as well as saunas and steam rooms, for 2 weeks. *Some people experience a little temporary tenderness, swelling or bruising around the injection sites.
*It is also recommended that you avoid additional treatments in the treated area for the next 7 day
The smooth consistency of the products in the Juvéderm Ultra® allows your medical physician to administer them easily and smoothly. They also contain 0.3% Lidocaine to reduce injection pain for a more comfortable experience. I applied Lidocaine local anesthetic cream 30minute before my treatment just to really get my lips nice and numb and for a comfortable procedure.
Following a filler injection, you may experience slight redness, swelling, or bruising at the injected area. These effects should not last for more than a week. Remember, 12 hours after your procedure you can cover up any skin discoloration with makeup.
(I tended to like the look of my lips when they were first done which meant they were still swollen.)
It has been 3months now since my follow-up/touch up and this is when I really started to like my lips most. The first couple of weeks I still had a pout going on but after all the swelling went away they looked very natural. They feel soft, and not hard or anything strange. I really love the results and I can actually put my lips together!
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
We'd love to help you out and get you the pout you want ;)
